Winning the Peace is a tabletop role-playing game designed to get players collaborating to save their communities from unpredictable events and disasters that befall their towns.
For this project, I was tasked with redesigning the player sheet. This was the first element of the game to be redesigned, so I also explored with the creator what the overall look and feel of the game should be.
Original Design
The initial design of the sheet was very rudimentary, featuring the basics of the community and their stats. The second half of the page also featured the titles and descriptions of each community move. While helpful to have all of this on one page, fitting the large amount of text on a redesign would be a challenge
Inspiration and Initial Sketches
To start redesigning the community sheet, I explored a few different options for its layout. Due to the large amount of text, I explored alternate items to replace it like written elements from other sheets, or a sketchpad to write notes as you play. The creator was also interested in a visual style similar to old congressional documents, with typewriter-style text and ornate patterns to decorate the page. We ended up settling on design 1, implementing the “representatives” sheet on the second half of the page instead of community moves.
